South Korea holds emergency meeting as EV fires stir consumer fear

South Korean officials met in august to address electric vehicle safety and the possibility of requiring car manufacturers to disclose battery brands. This follows a fire on August 1, which started in a Mercedes-Benz EV parked in an underground garage and damaged an apartment building. The fire took eight hours to extinguish, affecting around 140 cars and displacing some residents.
