Fire Block Membrane

Pitched Roof - Above Roofing

The Bridgehill Fire Roof Membrane - Pitched Roof Above Roofing is purpose-built for retrofit solar installations on pitched roofs. Installed directly on top of existing waterproofing and beneath the solar PV system, it requires no alteration to the original roof structure.

In the event of a solar panel fire, the membrane expands under extreme heat, forming a fire-resistant barrier that blocks flames and radiant heat from reaching the roof and igniting insulation, timber, or structural elements.

This solution delivers effective fire protection without demolition, roof replacement, or insulation upgrades. Fast to install and minimally invasive, it’s ideal for protecting existing pitched roofs where PV systems are added post-construction.

Maintains Structural Integrity & Cost Efficient
The installation process preserves the roof’s original waterproofing capabilities and does not negatively impact its load-bearing capacity. Drastically reduces project costs and construction timelines. There is no need to remove existing roofing or install an additional 50mm layer of non-combustible insulation, saving significant labor and material resources.

How it works
Intumescent Technology for Maximum Heat Blockage: The Bridgehill Fire Roof Membrane is to act as a self-sufficient safety layer. In the event of a thermal runaway or fire originating from the solar panels, the membrane utilizes advanced intumescent properties.
Learn More

Active Expansion

Upon contact with extreme heat, the material significantly expands.

Thermal Shielding

This expansion creates a robust block that prevents heat transfer to the underlying insulation.

Roof Preservation

By neutralizing the heat transfer, the existing roof structure remains intact, preventing the fire from penetrating the building envelope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to remove my current roof to install the Fire Roof Membrane?

One of the primary advantages of the Bridgehill system is that it eliminates the need to remove existing roofing. It is designed to be installed over your current roof, removing the requirement for expensive and time-consuming demolition.

How does the membrane protect insulation from solar panel fires?

The membrane acts as an intumescent shield. When exposed to fire from the panels, the material expands to create a thermal barrier that blocks heat transfer, effectively protecting the insulation below and keeping the roof intact.

What types of roofs is this membrane compatible with?

The Bridgehill Fire Roof Membrane is highly versatile and compatible with most standard industrial roofing materials, including bitumen, foil, and asphalt-based roofs.

Is the fire resistance officially certified?

Yes, the product features documented fire resistance based on comprehensive full-scale tests, ensuring it meets strict safety standards for industrial buildings.
