Technology
How it works
Isolate the risk. Protect the surroundings. Bridgehill® Car Standard 2 Fire Blanket is engineered for fast, reliable vehicle fire containment. It instantly suffocates flames by cutting off oxygen and creating a high-temperature barrier using advanced textiles. Once deployed, the blanket isolates toxic smoke and heat, helping prevent fire spread to nearby vehicles or infrastructure. With its lightweight design and easy handling, Car Standard 2 is the ideal “break-glass” tool for workshops, parking facilities, tunnels, and emergency services.

Instant Isolation

Rapidly isolates the fire to prevent spread to nearby vehicles or infrastructure. Essential for high-density areas like parking garages and ferries.

Smoke Containment

Traps toxic fumes and heavy soot immediately. Drastically reduces smoke damage to buildings and ventilation systems during the incident.

Eco friendly

Reduces water dependency and contaminated runoff. A reusable solution designed for up to 10 deployments, minimizing environmental impact.

EV-rated

Tested to meet international fire safety standards including NFPA 701-2019, EN 13501-1 (A1), EN ISO 1182, EN ISO 1716, and ASTM D257.

Car Standard2 Fire Blanket FAQ

Find clear answers about how a car fire blanket works, whether it’s suitable for EV fires, and how to deploy the Car Standard fire blanket safely.

Answers for response teams across transport, facilities, and public safety.

Can the Standard 2 car fire blanket be used on Electric Vehicles (EVs)?

Yes. While lithium-ion batteries burn at extreme temperatures, the Car Standard 2 Fire Blanket is an effective tool to instantly isolate the vehicle. It prevents the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles and buildings and blocks toxic smoke reducing carcinogen exposure.

What is the difference between Car Standard 2 and Car Pro X?

The Car Standard 2 is reusable for up to 10 times. The Car Pro X is made of graphite and a heavy-duty, reusable blanket engineered for multiple deployments - up to 30 times.

Where should this blanket be installed?

It is ideal for locations with high vehicle density or limited access, such as parking garages, car ferries, workshops, and ships. We recommend placing it in our wheeled cabinet for easy and instant access.

How is the Car Standard 2 fire blanket deployed?

1. Position. Place the fire blanket on the ground in front of or behind the vehicle and roll it out completely.

2. Cover. Two people should grab the handles and pull the blanket over the vehicle in one continuous movement to ensure immediate coverage.

3. Seal. Make sure the blanket creates a tight seal against the ground on all sides to cut off oxygen and trap smoke.

Do not lift the fire blanket after deployment.

The blanket instantly reduces temperature and helps slow down thermal runaway.
Never introduce tools, objects, water, or liquids under the blanket after deployment, as this may break the seal, introduce oxygen, and create an unsafe environment or cause deflagration.
All assessment of the situation shall be conducted only by trained firefighting personnel.

What certifications does the Car Standard fire blanket have?

• NFPA 701-2019 on core fabric
• EN ISO 1182 on pyroxene fabric
• EN ISO 1716 on pyroxene fabric
• EN 13501-1: Reaction to fire classification A1
on pyroxene fabric
• Surface and volume resistivity in accordance with ASTM D257
• Temperature performance and reusability
assessment at RISE Fire Research AS

What temperature can Car Pro X withstand?

Peak temperature ± 1100 °C / ± 2012 °F
Working temperature ± 550 °C / ± 1022 °F

Does a car fire blanket extinguish the fire?

A car fire blanket is primarily a containment tool. It helps reduce spread and exposure while responders manage the incident using appropriate procedures.
